, 2:625) listed Monroe’s nominees: Thomas Gales of Louisiana to be judge advocate, John Simmons of Ohio to be second lieutenant in the Third Regiment of Infantry, and Joel Everett and Eleazer Wheelock, “Volunteers under General Brown,” to be ensigns in the Twenty-First Regiment of Infantry ranking from 17 Sept. 1814; the list also corrected the name of ensign John Young, appointed to the Eighteenth Regiment of Infantry and confirmed on 12 Dec. 1814, to John Yancey. JM forwarded the list to the Senate on 1 Mar. 1815 (DNA: RG 46, Executive Proceedings, Nominations, 13B–A3).
