From John Jay to Sarah Livingston Jay, 18 July 1794

To Sarah Livingston Jay

London 18 July 1794

my dear Sally

I have written to you more than one Letter by the Ohio Capt. Kemp— they will inform you that three Letters from you have arrived— the latest of them is dated the 13th. June— I have also written by him a few Lines to the Girls with whose Letters I am much pleased.1

Mr. Roche expects to sail in a few Days for Boston, and thinking it probable that Letters by him will reach you sooner than those by the Ohio, I write you this in Haste, that you may have every chance of hearing that we are well, and may have the pleasure which I am persuaded these marks of attention will give you. I entirely approve of your arrangement with Mr. Grant— I mention this in the enclosed Letter to Mr. munro— when that Business shall be completed give me the earliest Advice of it— If concluded as we have Reason to expect, it will afford me much Satisfaction.2

Take good Care of your Health— mine continues as usual— Let our Friends at Rye hear from You— assure them of my affection— Health & Happiness attend you and our dear little Flock— Yours affecty

John Jay

Mrs. Jay
